Fire on the MV Boundary

Boundary

A fire on the container ship, the MV “Boundary” occurred whilst the ship was approximately 25 nautical miles off the South African west coast. The fire occurred in the engine room of the vessel.

The crew managed to extinguish the fire but the vessel was completely disabled and had to be towed by a tug to the Port of Cape Town.

The High Court, Cape Town handed down an order that the crew to give evidence at a commission of inquiry as to the circumstances of the fire, as well for the owner of the vessel to provide relevant documentation and for the inspection of the vessel by marine experts. We represented the master, officers and crew of the vessel at the inquiry.
